J Gabriel and Connie Yin join forces for the ‘State Of Mind’ EP this December, coming via Detroit’s Moteur Ville Musique and backed with Diego Krause and John Tejada remixes.

Detroit-based imprint Moteur Ville Musique has played host to original material and remixes from the likes of esteemed artists such as Rick Wade, Delano Smith, Mike Shannon, Eduardo De La Calle and SIS, a telling sign of the quality embodied in its output. Here the label welcomes back J Gabriel following his 2019 collaborative EP with Chuffing Buffy on the label, this time round uniting with Resolute New York resident Connie Yin.

The original mix of title-track ‘State Of Mind’ opens up the EP, fusing fluttering dubbed out chords and choppy bass grooves with gritty dynamic drums and airy vocals uttering the track’s title. Berlin’s Diego Krause steps in next to rework ‘State Of Mind’, delivering a typically groove-driven stripped back interpretation driven by bubbling percussion, intricate drum work and dynamic processing of the original’s synth and vocals.

The second original ‘Take Me Now’ follows and embraces a brighter feel courtesy of vacillating synth sequences, wandering subby tones and hypnotic vocal chants. John Tejada’s twist on ‘Take Me Now’ then completes the package, keeping the essence of the original while refining it with his unique groove fuelled by intertwining synths and nuanced modulations.

You can now listen to the full premiere of John Tejada‘s remix exclusively on When We Dip. Enjoy
