US house mainstay Todd Terry pours his considerable know-how into a superb new cover of ‘Fly Like An Eagle’ on InHouse Records this February.

New York’s Terry remains a towering presence in the global house underground. His pioneering early work back in the 80s brought introspection, depth, a touch of disco, plenty of hip-hop attitude, and next-level sampling to help define the emerging house sound. He did so under a number of different aliases and he still brings the goods to this day on a range of the most influential labels.

He turned his hand to this new cover as a way of introducing his younger audiences to a real classic. The original is a pop and blues gem by The Steve Miller Band which has previously been reworked by Masters at Work and now gets a tasteful edit by Terry. He has road-tested a work-in-progress mix of this track in London and Liverpool as well as to friends, all of whom gave great reactions and appreciated its undeniable club appeal.

And so will dance floors around the rest of the world: it is a brilliantly warm deep house cut with lush chords and silky melodies. The vocal is carefully treated and layered in to make for a heartfelt sound that is both timeless yet fresh.
