Australian electronic luminary Jamie Stevens returns with ‘Dust,’ a breathtaking new single out on Music To Die For and we’re thrilled to host the exclusive premiere.

The track began with the evocative lyrics penned by Brooke Singer, whose words became the emotional anchor for the composition. Before Brooke laid down her vocal performance, she and Jamie had already discussed the emotional tone they wanted to capture. Jamie’s vision was clear: a widescreen, immersive sound — something with both vastness and intimacy, carrying a sense of epic scale.

Sonically, ‘Dust’ is a conscious nod to shoegaze — shimmering layers, enveloping textures, and a feeling of being surrounded by sound. Its central metaphor — being a speck of dust — leans into themes of existential reflection, pairing lush harmonics with a deep emotional pull. The result is both expansive and deeply personal.

The single is part of Jamie’s first solo album, a project that marks a significant step in his artistic evolution. Speaking about the album, Jamie shares:

“I had always wanted to make a solo album outside of the ones I’d done with Infusion, but I was never quite sure what direction to take. I was very conscious of not wanting to make a strictly club-connected album. I felt there were richer themes, textures, and ideas to explore and the album format was the best place to do that. But I wasn’t sure how to bridge the gap between what I was known for (club singles and remixes) and an album that might not carry those same traits.”

With ‘Dust,’ Jamie Stevens offers a stunning bridge between his club heritage and a more cinematic, emotionally driven approach — proving that his artistry extends far beyond the dancefloor.

You can now listen to the full premiere of ‘Dust’ exclusively on When We Dip. Enjoy!
