Moroccan electronic music pioneer Amine K steps into the spotlight with his own remix of ‘Foul Gnawa’, the title track from the brand new EP he shares with fellow Moroccan trailblazer FNX Omar, out now on Izil Recordings.

Long before Afro house found its way onto international dancefloors, Amine K and FNX Omar were already among its earliest architects. Together with Mr. ID, the two artists helped lay the foundations of what has since become known as Moroccan Afro house, a sound rooted in North African tradition, organic instrumentation and hypnotic rhythms, shaped into contemporary club music years before the genre gained global momentum.

The ‘Foul Gnawa’ EP is a homecoming of sorts. At its heart is the title track, a fresh rework of a record Amine K originally produced nearly fifteen years ago. The new version retains the soul of the original while updating it for today’s dancefloors, with quirky guitar riffs weaving through rolling Afro house grooves and soulful vocal flourishes that carry both warmth and energy.

Amine K’s own remix, which we are premiering today, takes a more direct, club-focused approach. He raises the tempo, amplifies the percussive momentum and builds toward peak-time intensity, making it a firm tool for DJ sets that need a powerful, groove-driven centrepiece. The EP is rounded out by two more remixes: Mr. ID brings a darker, more hypnotic late-night feel with pulsing synth stabs and deeper tones, while FNX Omar opts for something groovier and more minimal, built on marching basslines and crisp percussion.

Izil Recordings, the label founded by Amine K and named after the Berber word for “pure”, continues to serve as a platform for the depth and diversity of Morocco’s underground scene. With ‘Foul Gnawa’, the label adds another important chapter to the ongoing story of Moroccan electronic music.

You can now listen to the full premiere of ‘Foul Gnawa’ exclusively on When We Dip Radio. Enjoy!
