Roman takes his time on ‘My Side’. Running just under eight minutes, the track is built for the long game, unfolding in patient layers rather than rushing toward a hook. It sits squarely in progressive house territory, melodic and warm without ever losing the momentum that keeps a floor moving, and that runtime gives it room to breathe as a proper DJ tool rather than a quick playlist entry.
The track arrives as part of ‘Soul Sampler IV’, the fourth edition of Melody Of the Soul’s flagship various artists compilation. The series has become a reliable snapshot of where the label’s taste sits at any given moment, pulling together established names and newer voices from across the melodic and progressive spectrum, and this instalment keeps that tradition intact.
Roman is the project of Valentín Romano, a producer born in Mendoza, Argentina and now based in Málaga, Spain. He picked up production at the age of twelve, entirely self-taught, after growing up on the funk and disco records his parents played at home. 2024 marked his breakthrough year, with performances at Ministry of Sound in London, Eden in Ibiza and Industrial Copera in Granada, sharing stages and posters with the likes of Hernan Cattaneo, Guy J, Dixon and Patrice Bäumel. His productions have drawn support from Cattaneo, Nick Warren, Eelke Kleijn and Mariano Mellino, and have found homes on Anjunadeep, UV, Musique de Lune and Univack.
Melody Of the Soul has been running out of Prague since 2020, founded and steered by label boss M.O.S. Across more than eighty releases the imprint has built a catalogue that moves comfortably between organic house, melodic warmth and deeper progressive territory, with artists such as Kamilo Sanclemente, Nicolas Viana, Krasa Rosa and Lost Desert passing through along the way. ‘Soul Sampler IV’ is another chapter in a story the label has been telling patiently for six years now.
