The title track draws inspiration from the forces behind volcanic rock formation, translating fire, pressure and movement into a hypnotic, percussion-driven composition. Built through modular synthesis, analogue hardware, field recordings and detailed sound design, ‘BASALT’ develops through subtle shifts in texture and dynamics rather than relying on conventional drops or formulas.
The EP continues its exploration of natural landscapes with ‘SERAC,’ inspired by an underground river of ice moving towards the surface, and ‘SKAFTA,’ which takes cues from the repetitive movement of Iceland’s black-sand coastline.
Across all three tracks, SÜSS focuses on tension, repetition and transformation, creating a tactile form of techno that remains firmly connected to the dancefloor while resisting predictable genre conventions.
Her musical approach is mirrored by a distinctive Avant-Garde visual identity, bringing together abstraction, raw materials, minimalism and unconventional design. For SÜSS, sound and image are part of the same creative language and an ongoing exploration of texture, movement and transformation.
With ‘BASALT,’ the artist presents a vision of techno that feels physical, imperfect and deeply intentional, carving out a space between raw techno, experimental electronics and contemporary avant-garde culture.
