Watergate regular Henri Bergmann returns to her Automatik label this April with the five-track Higher Dimension EP. Higher Dimension and Ordinary People will be released on 8th April with the full EP dropping on 22nd April. The UK talent has enlisted several industry heavyweights on remix duties, including Jonathan Kaspar, Mark Höffen and 19.26, whilst her husband Wennink features on the lead track as vocalist.

Speaking on the release, “the track was inspired by spending so much more time at home during lockdown. Normally, Oli and I work very separately and have two studios. This all changed during the pandemic, and very organically we started to collaborate on a few ideas, and Higher Dimension came out of that process. Of course it also doesn’t hurt to have an in-house vocalist on hand!” – Henri Bergmann

The title track leads proceedings, taking the form of a synth-heavy, futuristic-leaning number. Henri describes it best: “Musically we wanted a hard-hitting deep track, with an infectious melodic lead synth line that would compliment a low and rousing vocal.” Ordinary People comes next, taking on a darker feel through pummeling kicks and a fast, techno-inspired tempo before Mark Höffen’s remix soon arrives. Retaining the melodic-nature of the original, the seven-minute cut feels both dreamy and danceable in one, opening nicely into the driving, peak-time sounds of 19.26’s ‘Save Us’ remix. An acid-like bassine purrs in the background, as moving piano stabs amplify the magnitude of Wennink’s vocals. Finally, Jonathan Kaspar treats us to an ethereal closing piece, one that feels otherworldly and surreal courtesy of reverberating lyrical samples and glitchy, space-like pads.

Henri Bergmann is fast-becoming one of the UK’s leading artists in the contemporary electronic music sphere. Having recently signed to Watergate’s DJ roster, her productions have caught the eye of several industry titans, with Nexus and Protection both featuring on the cover of Spotify’s ‘Electronic Rising’ playlist. Her Automatik imprint continues to turn heads also, with the likes of Dixon, Tale Of Us and Nicole Moudaber supporting the label’s releases in recent times.
