When We Dip | Premiere: Lehar on remix duty for Nolan via Renaissance Records

Nolan returns to Renaissance this April with the exquisitely produced ‘Hang Back’ single. Remixes from heavyweights Lehar and Santiago Garcia complete the release.

Brighton-based Nolan really is a man on a mission. Although a professional sound engineer by trade, the prolific producer also boasts a number of production aliases, not least one—half of Cypherpunx who, alongside Kosheen’s Sian Evans, were responsible for last summer’s Renaissance smash, ‘Alien’, which was heralded by many as ‘tune of the year’. Now he returns with the beautiful Hang Back.

Nolan’s original is every bit the production masterclass you may expect. It’s a warm, musical embrace that evokes sunrises or sunsets at beach clubs around the world, be it Ibiza, Tulum or Bognor! Yet the remixes, as with all good remixes, take the track in entirely different directions; but that should come as no surprise given the fact we’re talking Lehar and Santiago Garcia!

“I’m so chuffed with the remixes,” says Nolan, “they work really well together. Santiago goes all out with an edgy electronica / breaks interpretation, whilst Lehar thrusts the track firmly into peak time with his trademark, indie power. Both are super creative and bring an entirely different sound and feel to the project. I really couldn’t be happier.”
