The year 1995 marks the point at which Markus’ life would change forever. A teenager attending his first house party with house music its inspiring soundtrack, the infectious electrohouse instantly captured his heart. It wasn’t long before the young Romainian had tracked down a turntable and began his lifelong love affair with beats and bass. Now signed to a bewildering array of high profile labels including Poker Flat, Saved and 8Bit, Markus is only just getting going.

Markus is making a comeback on Bondage Music. Released on vinyl and digital, his new ‘Twingo’ EP showcases four originals – two of which are included on this sampler, and a brilliant remix from label favourite Alexander Matchak. Starting with ‘Twingo,’ warm bass notes and an analogue pad invite the listener in from the first bar. Crisp hats and sparse percussion allow the vocal plenty of space to breathe as the track opens up into a classy mid-set groover.

On the flipside, ‘Duke’ takes a deeper, jazzy path. Opening with heavily swung hats and played bass, pianos and joyous organs complete the picture. Summery and light, the perfect counterpoint to the long cold nights as winter comes calling.

Finally, as a digital bonus, Alexander Matchak reimagines ‘Black Magic’ in his unique style. Glitchy and detail-orientated, the groove is multilayered and deep; the bass warm and rubbery; the dub stabs icy and raw. Sensational stuff.
