Today on When We Dip Magazine, we’re pleased to premiere the Umbra (Nicolas Rada Remix), a deep and immersive reinterpretation from Argentine producer Nicolas Rada, taken from the new EP by Suriana, out now on Hoomidaas, the imprint curated by Armen Miran.

The release arrives as a three-track EP built around Suriana’s atmospheric and groove-driven sound. Alongside the original ‘Umbra’, the project also features ‘Intima’, further highlighting the Buenos Aires artist’s ability to blend hypnotic rhythm with deep melodic textures.

Our focus today is Nicolas Rada’s remix of ‘Umbra’, which reshapes the original into a refined progressive journey. Built around a warm rolling bassline and subtle rhythmic drive, the remix gradually unfolds with layered atmospheres and evolving melodic elements. Rada carefully expands the emotional palette of the track while preserving the hypnotic essence of Suriana’s original composition, delivering a version designed for late-night dancefloors and extended DJ sets.

Based in Buenos Aires, Suriana represents a new generation of artists emerging from the region’s vibrant underground scene. Her productions combine percussive grooves, deep atmospheres and hypnotic energy, creating immersive musical journeys that resonate both on and off the dancefloor. Her path into music began early — studying guitar, theatre and acting from the age of ten — before eventually transitioning into DJing in 2022 and quickly expanding into vinyl performance and music production.

On remix duties, Nicolas Rada brings the depth and experience of one of Argentina’s most respected progressive producers. His catalogue spans a wide range of influential labels including The Soundgarden, Sudbeat Music, Balance Music, Get Physical Music, Chapter 24 Records, Sincopat, Days Like Nights, Proton Music, and Hoomidaas itself.

Throughout his career, Rada’s productions have received strong support from key figures across the progressive and melodic scene, including Nick Warren, Hernan Cattaneo, John Digweed, Danny Howells, Sander Kleinenberg, Guy Mantzur, Guy J, Patrice Baumel, and Eelke Kleijn among many others.

With the Umbra EP, Suriana delivers a confident and atmospheric release on Hoomidaas, while Nicolas Rada’s remix adds an expansive progressive interpretation that deepens the emotional scope of the project.

You can now listen to the full premiere of Nicolas Rada’s remix of ‘Umbra’ exclusively on When We Dip. Enjoy!
