Following on from the relaunch of NY-based techno imprint MATTER+, label boss Victor Calderone, a 20+ year veteran of the scene, is back with another impressive offering. This time, he teams up with a long-time friend, collaborator and studio partner Mykol (Mike Frade), on an immersive contemporary techno two-tracker titled ‘Inner Rhythm’. After their first collab EP earlier this year on Bedrock called ‘Push Back’ and having worked together for many years on Waveform Recordings, the pair share a strong musical connection, easily inspire each other, and possess the same joy and excitement for cutting-edge underground music.

Kicking off the release, the title cut ‘Inner Rhythm’ comes in hot with a pulsating heartbeat of firmly rounded kicks and rippling bass tones. The track is brought to life with groove-laced percussive flare and a subtle gritty musicality, drawing on their combined decades of experience to carve out a profound dancefloor journey amplified by a thought-provoking vocal topliner.

‘Perspective’ comes next, bringing another wave of marauding momentum deftly driven by rolling rhythms and loosely shuffled hat grooves. Ominously stimulating from the outset, its continuum of harshened musical components provides a strikingly raw accomplice to its unwavering beat structure, tied together perfectly with another captivating vocal feature.
