A visionary of sounds, Damian Lazarus has long since built a name for himself by supporting forward-thinking international talent across his labels, with his golden ear having led him to a career as a globally renowned DJ/producer and label owner at the forefront of the scene. Returning with the fifth instalment of the label’s ongoing VA series ‘SOULS,’ Lazarus’ Rebellion unveils its latest lineup with four diverse and deep cuts set to grace the Crosstown Rebels sister imprint this September.

The VA opens with New York house native Avision, whose previous releases feature on labels such as Cocoon, Ellum, Knee Deep In Sound, and MATTER+, the co-owned label with his cousin and US techno legend Victor Calderone. Avision’s track, ‘Need You’, is a belter. Whilst staying true to his sound, he pushes into more cinematic spheres with floating flutes, hissing hi-hats and powerful vocals. Second up is Chelu Garcia, an Ibiza-based pianist and DJ/producer with a flair for jazz-flavoured house. His contribution, ‘New Galaxies,’ journeys into poetic realms, delivering the narrative vocals of Swiss singer-songwriter Ishantu over hypnotic rhythms and darker basslines.

Dynamic Hungarian duo Secret Factory, who have been making waves with their party series turned imprint Secret Fusion since 2001, are next. Their track ‘Time Of Jubilation’ comes with sharp sounds as shooting synths collate to form a climaxing crescendo oriented towards the peak time. Closing the record, London-based DJ/producer and one-half of legendary D&B duo Source Direct, Phil Source, delivers rippling otherworldly soundscapes on ‘Pyramid of Sun,’ where the captivating bassline meets compelling beats.

You can now listen to the full premiere of Avision’s ‘Need You’ exclusively on When We Dip. Enjoy!
