There’s something about summer that lends itself naturally to music: warm nights, open skies, long days, and those fleeting hours between sunset and sunrise. For Room Service, those feelings came into focus during a trip to Gran Canaria in 2025, where the duo found themselves inspired by the island’s laid-back energy, ocean air, and unmistakable sense of freedom.
That atmosphere became the foundation for ‘Holiday’, a three-track EP out now on Future Romance that moves between the emotional pull of Progressive House and the driving energy of Melodic Techno. Across the release, Rossi and Marko channel their shared love of melody, groove and organic analogue textures into a collection that feels equally at home on the dancefloor and in the hazy aftermath of a long summer night.
Fresh off the release, we caught up with Room Service to talk about the inspiration behind ‘Holiday,’ their evolving studio partnership, their approach to hardware and live performance, and the memories they hope listeners will create with the music.
WWD: ‘Holiday’ feels like the soundtrack to long summer days and late nights on the dancefloor. Was there a specific feeling, place, or memory that inspired the EP?
Definitely. The inspiration for ‘Holiday’ came during a trip to Gran Canaria in 2025. We were there for a show and completely fell in love with the atmosphere, the laid-back lifestyle, the open minded people, the light, the ocean, and that unique energy you can feel everywhere on the island.
Those moments between sunset and sunrise became the emotional foundation of the music. For us, ‘Holiday’ is more than just an EP, it’s about freedom, lightness, and the feeling of never wanting summer to end. We wanted to create music that feels like warm air on your skin, a salty sea breeze, and the first rays of sunlight after a long night on the dancefloor.
WWD: Across the three tracks, you blend the emotional side of Progressive House with the momentum of Melodic Techno. How do you strike that balance without leaning too heavily in either direction?
Almost every track starts with a feeling. Sometimes it’s a melody, sometimes it’s a groove, but emotion is always at the center of everything we do.
We never try to fit into a specific genre, we simply follow where the music wants to go. If a track needs more depth, we let it breathe. If it calls for more energy, we give it the drive it deserves. That balance happens very naturally. We want our music to connect with people’s emotions while still making them want to move.
WWD: Future Romance has built a reputation for emotionally driven, melodic electronic music. How did the connection with the label come about, and what made it feel like the right home for ‘Holiday?’
Our relationship with Future Romance goes back several years now. Over time, we’ve built a close and trusting connection with Solee. He really understands our sound while giving us the creative freedom we need to express ourselves.
Because of that, it felt like the obvious home for ‘Holiday’. Future Romance stands for genuine emotion, musical quality, and a timeless sound, values that perfectly reflect what we believe in as artists.
WWD: The three tracks each have their own identity while still feeling connected. Did the EP come together naturally or was there a clear concept you wanted to explore from the beginning?
The EP came together very naturally. The three tracks were written over several months, and each one tells its own story. At the same time, they all share the same emotional core.
Every track captures a different shade of that summer feeling, somewhere between euphoria, nostalgia, and lightness. We wanted the EP to feel like a small journey, with different chapters but the same warm atmosphere and our signature sound throughout.
WWD: Your productions have a very warm, organic character with hardware playing a huge role in your process. What draws you to analog gear and what’s one piece of equipment that’s become indispensable to your workflow?
We simply love working with analog synthesizers and shaping sounds with our own hands. Those little imperfections are what make a sound feel alive.
Hardware brings warmth, character, and often unexpected moments that are difficult to recreate entirely in the box. Our Moog, the Novation Peak, and several Roland synths have become essential parts of our workflow. We often spend hours transforming a raw sound into something truly our own, that organic process is a huge part of what defines our music.
WWD: As a duo, how does the creative process unfold in the studio? Do you naturally fall into different roles, or is every track a collaborative effort from start to finish?
Over the years, our workflow has developed very naturally. Rossi mainly focuses on melodies, harmonies, and arranging, while Marko takes care of drums, grooves, and the rhythmic foundation.
That said, every idea gets challenged, refined, and developed together. We each bring our own strengths to the table, but every final decision is made as a team. That’s a big part of what gives our music its identity.
WWD: The chemistry between you is evident in both your productions and your live performances. How has your partnership evolved since you first started making music together?
We first met many years ago through DJing. We were both active in the local scene and quickly realized that we shared the same musical language.
What started with playing shows together naturally evolved into studio sessions, and eventually became Room Service. Today, we know each other inside out. We understand how the other person thinks and works, and we believe that level of trust is something people can hear in our music.
WWD: You recently performed a live set at MOMEM in Frankfurt and the energy looked incredible! Can you tell us a bit about how the show came together? Do you think it’s changed the way you think about your live show going forward?
MOMEM means a lot to us personally. As artists from the region, it was incredibly special to bring our sound to such an important venue in Frankfurt.
The energy in the room was amazing from the very first track to the last. Seeing people connect with our music and share those moments together was truly overwhelming. Nights like that remind us why we make music in the first place. They inspire us to keep evolving our sound and create even more emotional experiences in our live sets.
WWD: Every artist has a story about what first pulled them into electronic music. What were your earliest influences, and when did you realize this was something you wanted to pursue seriously?
Rossi: I’ve always been drawn to melodic sounds and emotional electronic music. At some point, I realized I didn’t just want to experience those emotions as a listener, I wanted to create them
myself.
Marko: For me, it was all about the energy of the dancefloor and the power of rhythm and beats. DJing was my entry point, and producing music felt like the natural next step.
Together: Once we started writing music together, it became obvious that this could grow into something much bigger. We shared the same vision and wanted to develop a sound that was truly our own. Since then, we’ve been fully committed to that journey.
WWD: What are you guys most looking forward to after the EP’s release?
What excites us most is seeing how people connect with the music. For us, music has always been an emotional exchange.
These tracks were born from personal moments, memories, and emotions, and now it’s time for them to become part of someone else’s story. If people associate these songs with their summer, create memories around them, or experience them together on the dancefloor, then the music has done exactly what it was meant to do.
We can’t wait to play the EP live and discover the stories other people will attach to these songs. That’s ultimately why we make music.
