Alex H. and Adrian C are the Paris-based duo Birds of Mind, and they have teased this superb compilation with a terrific run of remixes and singles already this year. They come after building up a fine catalogue of emotionally profound and deep house grooves on this label, as well as Kindisch. They have dropped a cultured album before now, and their sounds often climb high in the Beatport Organic House charts. Now, they offer up a widescreen window into their current world with this Body Language selection featuring plenty of originals and remixes.

Two Birds of Mind originals start with ‘Don’t Leave Me Here’ and ‘Miss You Babe,’ which captivate with their beautifully melancholic synths and rolling house grooves. Their remix of Kostakis’ ‘The Taking’ is deft, organic house with dreamy pad work and well-treated vocals and ‘Coeur’ is a signature original with suspensory pads and vulnerable vocal whispers that make for a lush late-night sound.

The mid-section is defined by a quartet of remixes which show off Birds of Minds’s ability to rework tracks into their own distinctive sound world – their take on ‘Hi & Low’ has elegant and pensive piano chords while a revisit of their ‘Mi Pena’ track reimagines it as a suggestive, subtly funky sound with heartfelt vocals bringing plenty of romance. Chelonis R. Jones’s ‘Mythologies’ becomes a cosmic delight in their hands, and DJ T. & Cari Golden’s ‘City Life’ is a grown-up house lullaby. The remix of Zosia’s ‘Honey’ brings more twitchy synths and paranoid house stylings before ‘That Sweet Finale’ closes with rousing piano chords and sweeping synths that are effortlessly life-enriching.

To celebrate the compilation, Birds of Mind bring a slice of their seductive prowess to the Select Cuts series. Enjoy!
