Korean-born, Berlin-based artist Hyunji-A returns with a deeply personal and sonically rich release, ‘Neon Lights’ EP, out now on keep my letters, the boutique imprint she co-runs with Tantum. Spanning four introspective tracks, the EP paints an intimate portrait of Hyunji-A’s creative evolution, blending melodic depth, emotional storytelling, and hypnotic textures that transcend the club environment.

Each piece on ‘Neon Lights’ represents a distinct chapter in her journey — reflections of moments lived, lessons learned, and emotions transformed into sound. “Having been created at different chapters of my life, each track tells a story of its own,” she shares. “I’m excited to share with you a glimpse of my personal experiences, and I thank you for holding space for a brief moment to hear me.”

The title track, ‘Neon Lights’, was born after a spark of inspiration struck during a back-to-back set between Hernán Cattáneo and Patrice Bäumel at Montreal’s legendary Stereo club in late 2023. Its pulsing bassline and glowing melodic layers channel that sense of wonder — a vivid memory transformed into music.

Elsewhere, ‘Trapped’ explores the tension of being confined within one’s own mind — a sonic meditation on awareness and self-confrontation — while ‘Meditation’ follows as its resolution, finding peace and grounding through rhythm and breath. Closing the record, ‘Audacity’ shifts the focus to Hyunji-A’s vocal sensibilities, offering a tender and experimental glimpse into her songwriting beyond the dancefloor.

Together, these four tracks form a cohesive emotional narrative — one that bridges introspection and motion, human warmth and ethereal club energy.

You can now listen to the full premiere of ‘Neon Lights’ exclusively on When We Dip. Enjoy!
