In a scene often driven by fast cycles and fleeting hype, Cook Strummer and Freudenthal operate on a different timeline, one shaped by patience, experience, and emotional clarity. For over a decade, both artists have been quietly shaping the emotional and sonic vocabulary of modern indie dance, each from a distinct angle. Their collaboration ‘Bon Voyage’, out on Feinstoff, feels less like a crossover and more like a natural alignment.

The original version of ‘Bon Voyage’ isn’t a club tool in the conventional sense. It’s a departure record: emotional yet propulsive, intimate yet perfectly suited for late-night systems. Cook Strummer’s indie-rock vocal brings narrative and vulnerability, floating above a measured groove shaped by Freudenthal’s precise, emotionally driven electronic framework. The result moves effortlessly between solitary listening and dancefloor introspection.

That emotional foundation is reimagined through the remix package, and today we premiere Lauer’s take on the record. Known for his timeless blend of indie dance, synth-driven nostalgia, and club intuition, Lauer pushes Bon Voyage firmly toward the dancefloor. His remix accelerates the tempo and sharpens the groove, wrapping the track in a warm, retro-tinged energy while remaining faithful to the song’s melodic core.

Where the original unfolds patiently, Lauer’s version is immediate and uplifting, built for peak-time moments yet rich with feeling. It’s a reinterpretation that celebrates repetition, momentum, and melody, channeling the emotional essence of ‘Bon Voyage’ into a form that’s both familiar and freshly alive in the club.

Alongside a driving, peak-time remix from Far&High, the full release positions ‘Bon Voyage’ as a long-form statement, where songwriting meets club culture, sensitivity meets movement, and experience fuels forward momentum.

You can now listen to the full premiere of Lauer’s remix exclusively on When We Dip. Enjoy!
