Premiere: Ronnie Spiteri doubles up on a dream come true with Hot Creations

Some debuts feel inevitable, and this one has been more than a decade in the making. Southampton’s Ronnie Spiteri finally lands on Hot Creations with ‘Double Up’, a two-track release that captures his instinct for bold, energetic and character-driven club music. The connection runs deep: Ronnie has been a devoted fan of the imprint since its earliest days, raving at countless Paradise parties and sending music to Jamie Jones for over 13 years before finally arriving on the label he grew up idolising.

The title track ‘Double Up’ sees Ronnie steer his production into more unexpected territory, shaping a moody cut around a breakdown built to sound weird yet catchy, then locking it in with a big bassline and a slick rap vocal. The turnaround was the stuff of producer dreams: finished on a Thursday, sent to Jamie Jones that evening, dropped b2b with Joseph Capriati at Sonar on the Saturday, and signed by the following Tuesday.

Today’s premiere, ‘Becca’s Booty’, completes the release with another dose of Ronnie’s signature energy, pairing skippy grooves with pure dancefloor attitude and rounding out a debut that feels every bit worth the wait.

A DJ, producer, label boss and event curator, Ronnie has spent years guiding crowds, earning a notable residency at Amnesia Ibiza and landing productions on respected labels including Knee Deep In Sound, Abracadabra, Positiva and Do Not Sleep, all while curating his own Kenja Records. With ‘Double Up’, he adds one of house music’s most iconic institutions to the list: since 2010, Jamie Jones and Lee Foss’s Hot Creations has been a defining force in house music, and Ronnie’s debut slots right into that lineage.

You can now listen to the full premiere of ‘Becca’s Booty’ exclusively on When We Dip. Enjoy!
