Dee Montero steps up to the cultured Do Not Sit On The Furniture Recordings with two rich, Afro-inspired house cuts.
Montero is an established electronic music producer who first gained broad attention when his 2017 track ‘Halcyon’ was named Pete Tong’s Essential Tune of the Year on BBC Radio One. He has since released music on Nora En Pure’s Purified, Hot Since 82’s Knee Deep In Sound, and Anja Schneider’s mobilee while heading up his own Futurescope imprint.
‘Rumba’ is a chunky but warm groove with delicate melodies dancing over the bold drums. Sprinkles of percussion, delicate keys and lush chords all bring soul and colour as the tension rises and angelic vocals eventually shimmer through the mix. ‘Azteca’ is another deep and rolling cut, this time lit up with golden synths that bring Detroit soul next to emotional wails. Majestic synths swoop through the mix to fill hearts and get dancers elevated.
These are two magnificently stylish cuts from Montero. You can now listen to the full premiere of ‘Azteca’ exclusively on When We Dip. Enjoy!
