James Kumo makes his first outing on iVAV Recordings as he delivers his latest EP ‘Paradise / XX’, with remixes from Deetron and Heron.

A name responsible for a wealth of quality, deep, synth-driven productions within the worlds of house and techno across the past decade, UK-based DJ and producer James Kumo stands today as an artist continually in evolution. Having made his debut on Delsin offshoot Ann Aimee, the years since have welcomed releases via the likes of Curle, Opilec, and his own K-Music, gaining supporters in leading international names such as François K, Laurent Garnier, Radio Slave, and Josh Wink. Next up, late May welcomes his first material of 2021 as he steps out on VIVa MUSiC sister label iVAV Recordings with his latest EP ‘Paradise / XX’, with recent label signing Heron and Swiss favorite Deetron stepping up on remix duties.

Opening track ‘Paradise’ welcomes a hazy cut guided by flickering synth melodies, epic sweeping atmospherics, and refined percussion throughout, showcasing Kumo’s ability to build emotive and moving productions. Up next, Deetron’s take on the track ups the pace as he combines slick hats and energetic drums with rich stabs atop of a moody core bassline, whilst the ‘Dub’ keeps the focus squarely on the lively, zippy drum groove throughout. Second original ‘XX’ welcomes a warping journey through evolving leads, vocal echoes, and driving snare rolls, before closing with his own ‘Tech Mix’ of the track which takes things deep into the late-night hours.

You can now listen to the full premiere of Deetron’s remix exclusively on When We Dip. Enjoy!
