Matrixxman has long been one of American techno’s most dependable exports. The San Francisco bred producer broke through with his 2015 debut album ‘Homesick’ on Ghostly International and has since delivered club weaponry for revered imprints like Dekmantel and Aus Music, building a reputation for sleek, functional grooves wrapped in a sci-fi sheen.
His latest outing arrives courtesy of Pixel Grip, the Chicago darkwave/electronic trio whose acclaimed 2025 album ‘Percepticide: The Death of Reality’ fused EBM, techno, synthpop and industrial pop into one of the year’s most ferocious statements. Fully independent and self-released, the band now returns with ‘Percepticide Remixed’, a sixteen track package that hands the record over to a wide-ranging cast including KAVARI, Perel, Frazer Ray, Black Asteroid, Curses and more, each remixer pulling the album into new corners of the underground.
For his contribution, Matrixxman sculpts ‘Reason To Stay’ into a heads-down, hands-up dancefloor anthem. Stripping the original back to its pulse, he rebuilds the track around driving drums and hypnotic synth work, trading darkwave drama for pure late-night propulsion. It is a lesson in tension and restraint from a producer who knows exactly what a peak-time floor needs, and it lands as Pixel Grip gear up for festival stops at Just Like Heaven and Bumbershoot before supporting KoRn across European arenas this fall.
You can now listen to the full premiere of ‘Reason To Stay (Matrixxman Remix)’ exclusively on When We Dip. Enjoy!
