Davide Squillace’s label This And That Lab presents a percussive style house release from Ernest & Frank also featuring a remix by Argy Ernest & Frank are an Ibiza based duo who are best known for their show on the island’s Ibiza Global Radio, but they have also released tracks on Deeperfect Records in collaboration with Leonardo Gonnelli. Their eclectic mix of styles blends everything from minimal to the classic sounds of Chicago House, and their two original tracks on this release have a definite percussive flair. On remix duty, Argy is one of the UK’s finest known for his stripped-back style that’s been featured on labels such as Crosstown Rebels, Rebirth, Play It Say It and Cocoon.

‘Numau’ opens the release with snare rolls and looped vocals under which the bass creates a rolling groove perfect for the club. Free-flowing and upbeat, this party-starting cut perfectly captures the heat of an Ibizan dance floor.

Argy’s rework of ‘Numau’ is second on the release and it’s got a hypnotic bassline that transforms the mood of the track. Darker but equally as charismatic, he uses the original tribal style percussion and vocal chant to give his version a vibrant sound full of energy.

Last on the release, ‘Single Malt’ is a techy track with a hand’s in the air mood augmented with hip hop style vocal samples and a breakbeat style layered over a four-to-the-floor kick drum. Cut by filter sweeps, this is a slick sounding piece of club-friendly house. You can listen to the full premiere of Argy’s remix exclusively on When We Dip. Enjoy !
