Some records are made for listening and others are made for moving, and Federico Scavo has never had much doubt about which side he sits on. The Tuscan house veteran returns to his own AREA 94 Records this week with ‘La Musica EP’, a five-track collection built on the instinctive, groove-led energy that has defined his productions for more than three decades, and we are happy to premiere its title track, ‘La Musica’.
Born and raised in Fucecchio, a short drive from both Florence and Pisa, Scavo started DJing in 1991 and producing a few years later, and he has been a fixture of the international house circuit ever since. Tracks like ‘Funky Nassau’, ‘Balada’ and ‘Strump’ became club staples far beyond Italy, his catalogue of releases and remixes stretches across Toolroom, Pacha Recordings, Juicy Music and Stealth Records, and his first set at Pacha Ibiza remains one of the highlights of a career that is now in its 35th year of touring. Earlier this year he landed on Roger Sanchez’s Stealth with ‘The Glory’, and he has kept up a steady run of releases throughout 2026.
‘La Musica’ sets the tone for the EP straight away. At 128 BPM it rides a rhythmic, infectious groove that refuses to sit still, with crisp drums, a rolling low end and the kind of percussive detail that comes from a producer who has spent a lifetime watching dancefloors react. It is polished without ever feeling clinical, and there is a spontaneous, almost live quality to the way the elements drop in and out, which is exactly what makes Scavo’s brand of house music so effective in a club.
The rest of the EP keeps the momentum high. ‘Keep Going’ is another club-focused cut for those moments when the room is fully locked in, ‘Do You Love Me’ shifts towards something deeper and more seductive, ‘I Don’t Mind’ adds another layer of personality and movement, and closer ‘LOCO’ finishes things exactly as its title suggests: wild, energetic and unapologetically built for the dancefloor.
It is also a fitting home for the release. Scavo founded AREA 94 Records in 2007 as a platform for groove-led house and tech house, and in the years since the label has welcomed established names like Robbie Rivera, Ron Carroll, Crazibiza, Marco Lys and Alex Kenji alongside a steady stream of emerging talent, always with an ear for peak-time club play. ‘La Musica EP’ lands on October 16th, and it is Scavo doing what he does best: making house music that gets under your skin, grabs the room and keeps people moving.
